ZAP links education and research to businesses

ZAP Groningen is not only an upscaling facility, it also plays an important role as a link between business, research and education. As a result, ZAP can quickly identify new developments in the professional field and bring them to the attention of educators.

In 2020, this led to the construction of the ZAP LEDs Grow Plants facility, where research is being conducted into the influence of various colors (LED) lighting on the growth of plants.
It also led to the development of a multipurpose reaction and separation unit for biomass, which can be used for various organic-chemical processes, enzymatic conversions, pretreatment reactions, extraction, distillation and crystallization.
