Editorial office / Hamina

Here, crude tall oil (a by-product of the wood pulp industry) is refined into raw materials for a variety of products such as biofuels, adhesives and binders, car tyres, inks and even health and wellness products and perfumes.

The biorefinery has been operational since autumn 2022 and uses the intelligent tall oil fractionation technology NEXPINUSâ„¢ licensed from Neste’s Engineering Solutions (NES). In this process, biogas feedstock is fractionated using thermal energy and vacuum.

The input capacity of this state-of-the-art refinery is 200,000 tonnes of crude tall oil, making Fintoil the third largest crude tall oil refinery in the world. The plant is also designed with the possibility of expanding import capacity in the future.

There will be no additional costs for visitors to Lignofuels 2024 to visit the biorefinery, but the number of seats is limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Check the agenda for more information on Lignofuels 2024.
