The Venlo-based company ECOR developed technology to make sturdy panels from 100% cellulose, obtained from, for example, hemp fibers, paper and recycled jeans. Production requires no more than water, pressure and heat. A veneer finishing layer is glued to the cellulose panels with a special removable glue from DSM Niaga, so that the panel can be fully recycled at the end of its life. This is not possible with conventional furniture panels.
The Natural Fibertastic Award was presented during the event of the same name in Bergen op Zoom, organized by Biobased Delta, the Natural Fiber Application Center and BioBase4SME. Agro & Chemistry was present. The full report will soon be available on this website.
