The US commercial fuel cell vehicle developer Hyzon Motors has announced the opening of its European headquarters in the Dutch city of Groningen. Holthausen Clean Technology will carry out the production of hydrogen trucks for the European market.

Holthausen Clean Technology is a European pioneer specialized in converting diesel trucks to fuel cell vehicles. “We have been delivering fuel cell trucks for years, and we are honoured to now join forces with our US partner, Hyzon Motors, to bring the most advanced fuel cell truck technology to European customers. Made in Europe to meet European decarbonization objectives,” Max and Carl Holthausen said in a press release.

Holthausen Clean Technology will build the Hyzon trucks based on DAF’s XF Space Cab semitrailer tractor. It is expected to be on the market in six to eight months. Hyzon Motors Europe plans to deliver “hundreds of heavy fuel cell vehicles” by the end of 2021. Technical specifications are not yet known.
