DSM produces the recycled material from nylon fishing nets from the Indian Ocean and the Arabian Sea. The nets are thoroughly cleaned and processed through an in-house process into a polyamide 6 (PA6). This is marketed under the brand name Akulon RePurposed. The material has a wide range of applications, including furniture, watches and surfboards.

Car manufacturer Ford uses the award-winning clips in its Bronco Sport models. The clips of the wiring harness are invisible to the occupants and are attached to the sides of the second-row seats of the Bronco Sport. Tests conducted by Ford show that the Akulon RePurposed material, despite being left in salt water and sunlight, is as strong and durable as ‘fossil’ clips.
