The R&D Playground is an initiative that brings professionals from companies and government institutions into contact with researchers, for example from the University of Groningen and the Research Centre Biobased Economy of Hanze University Groningen.

The theme of the first R&D Playground event is Green Industry. The related topics in this theme are biomass, plastic recycling, CO2 valorisation, sustainable electrification, electrochemistry and chemical processes. Erik Keller and André Heeres (both Hanze University) and Peter Deuss (University of Groningen) will speak on the topic of biomass. Andrea Giuntoli and Ranjita Bose (both RUG) will speak about plastics/polymers & recycling. Sebastian Beil and Jingxiu Xie (both RUG) talk about the valorisation of CO2 and electricity to chemicals.

R&D Playground is focused on play; it is an opportunity to meet new people, discuss experiments and ideas, and learn from others in an informal setting. The goal is to learn from each other and find new ways to collaborate and innovate. But it doesn’t hurt to have fun along the way, too.
