The materials and energy transitions are two major challenges we face as a society in the coming years. Both transitions focus on a sustainable future and are strongly linked technically. Because it's very simple… no energy without materials and no materials without energy. This is the focus of the Future Rethinkers Congress on 15 June.

After 10 years of commitment to the biobased economy, the Centre of Expertise Biobased Economy of Avans University and HZ University (CoE BBE) in The Netherlands is striking a new path and no longer just embraces biobased, but multiple themes within the full width of the materials and energy transition.

The Future Rethinkers Congress will look back at what has already been achieved together over the years, but will also look ahead. For instance, the new name will be presented to encourage the broader focus on materials and energy transition from now on.

The plenary session will focus on the overarching theme of materials and energy transition. Where exactly do these themes intersect? This will be addressed in two rounds of parallel sessions. Using creative working methods such as interactive lectures, workshops, round-table discussions, poster presentations by students and a market, we will tackle a different theme each time. Naturally, there will also be plenty of time and space for informal networking.

Note: most of the congress will be in the Dutch language, some presentations will be in English. Check the website for more information, the programme and registration.
