The first vision of BIC was developed in 2012. It is the basis of the Bio-Based Industries Joint Undertaking (BBI JU) of 2014-2020. A lot has changed since then. More and more companies and industrial sectors have joined or are interested in participation. The concept of the circular economy is gaining momentum. We must ensure that the Paris Climate Convention is implemented. Discussions on possible partnerships under Horizon Europe – the successor to the EU research and innovation program Horizon 2020 – are also underway. That is why BIC and the affiliated companies have updated the vision.
This vision will be finalised and aligned with potential private partners of a future public-private partnership and other stakeholders before the end of this year.
