These innovative plastic pallets have been developed by Yibo Su, founder of the startup EUclp. Su, originally from China, previously conducted research at the University of Twente and the Brightlands Materials Center. Following China’s import ban on plastic waste, he has focused his expertise in lightweight materials and bonding techniques on creating circular packaging solutions.
A prototype of EUclp’s plastic pallet is anticipated to be unveiled in June at the Brightlands Materials Center, followed by a testing phase with commercial partners. The company aims to introduce these products to the Dutch market by the end of 2026. The development of these pallets could contribute to increased recycling of plastic waste, particularly within the packaging sector, where the European Union targets a 55 percent recycling rate by 2030.
