The grant size is a maximum of 60% of the additional costs linked to the innovative low-carbon technology applied.

A second call for small-scale projects is planned to be launched in March 2022 with an expected budget of € 100 million and will remain open for five months. This is meant for projects with a capital expenditure of between € 2.5 million and € 7.5 million. The grant size is a maximum of 60% of capital expenditure.

The Innovation Fund is financed by revenues from the auctioning of emission allowances from the EU’s Emissions Trading System. For more information, see the Innovation Fund website.
