The European project Bio-Based Digital Twins (BBTWINS) is organising a webinar exploring the potential of digitaltwins within the biobased agrifood sector on 15 May, 10.00 tot 11.00 CET (GMT+2).
Editorial office / Brussels

BBTWINS is developing a digital platform for the optimisation of agri-food value chain processes and the supply of quality biomass for bioprocessing. The platform is based on ‘digital twins’ technology – creating a real-time digital replica of physical processes in the agri-food industry.

BBTWINS also combines blockchain, artificial intelligence (machine learning and deep learning), big data, software analytics, computer simulation of agri-food processes, and the Internet of Things (IoT), in this single platform.

Digital twin technology offers a sustainable path forward, mitigating climate-wrought risk through optimising and increasing the efficiency of agricultural processes.

The four-year research and innovation action project BBTWINS is funded by the Circular Biobased Europe Joint Undertaking (CBE JU) in which Bio-based Industries Consortium (BIC) and the European Commission are working together to make Europe’s bioeconomy, including the agri-food value chain, more competitive.

Speakers include:

  • Daniel de la Puente Ranea, Head of EU Projects, CNTA
  • Rebeca Martínez de Laguna Marquínez, R&D Engineer, PANOimagen
  • Israel Serrano, Founder of StelvioTech
  • José Mª Alonso Rodríguez (Cacho), Innovation Coordinator, SOLTEC Ingenieros SL
