This became clear during the members meeting of the Bio-economy Platform (PBE) last month. During that meeting, it also became apparent that the chemical industry is looking for sustainable options, like bio-based drop-ins (the same chemicals as those from crude oil, but from biological origin), as well as completely new bio-based chemicals, with better properties. This makes reliable certification schemes and tools to assess the sustainability of biomass increasingly important.
