The EU Bioeconomy Monitoring System has been updated this month to include a mapping of its indicators to the European Green Deal priorities and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Editorial office / Brussels

The monitoring system is an action of the JRC, the European Commission’s scientific research institute. The system visualises progress on the European Green Deal, but now also on the SDGs. It provides up-to-date, comprehensive, robust and reliable information on all aspects of the European bioeconomy. Through interactive dashboards, policy makers and stakeholders can follow the progress of the bioeconomy towards sustainability in the EU and its Member States.

Three new indicators based on the work of the JRC have also been added to the dashboards:

  • cascading use of wood
  • bio-waste recovered by source and
  • total bio-waste generated by source.

This brings the total number of indicators of the EU Bioeconomy Monitoring System to 31. More information can be found on the JRC website.
