On Friday 1 October the Dutch normalisation institute NEN, in cooperation the European umbrella organisation CEN, is organising a webinar on how standards can contribute to protecting and improving biodiversity. During the webinar representatives from the European Commission will explain the Green Deal.

Protecting our biodiversity is a broad task that is not limited to one sector or can be solved by one player. Standards are widely supported agreements that enable cooperation between different organisations. During this webinar, an explanation is given of European policy, developments in the field of standardisation and how this can contribute to this social task.

Harmonisation

The protection of biodiversity is a joint task. With standards, different parties speak the same language. In this way, standards make an important contribution to the European Green Deal,’ says Ronald Boon, chairman of the CEN-CENELEC Strategic Advisory Body on Environment (SABE) and one of the speakers during this webinar.

Other speakers during the webinar are Karolina D’Cunha, Deputy Head of Biodiversity at the European Commission, Andrea Nam, Project Manager at CEN-CENELEC and Sylvain Boucherand, President of the ISO Biodiversity Committee.

The webinar ‘Biodiversity – harmonization through voluntary standards’ will take place on 1 October, from 10:00 to 11:00. Participation in the webinar is free of charge, but registration is required. The webinar will be held in English.
