The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) of the European Union has published its opinion on DSM`s methane reducing feed additive Bovaer.

This brings the market introduction in Europe one step closer. A quarter of a teaspoon of Bovaer per cow per day reduces methane emissions from dairy cows by an average of 30%.

Methane is a powerful greenhouse gas and the IPCC climate report states that a rapid reduction of methane emissions is necessary to limit the rise in global temperatures.

At COP26 – the UN climate conference in Glasgow – more than 100 countries have indicated to reduce methane emissions by 30% by 2030.
